The Arizona~California District
The Arizona~California District traces its beginnings back to the late 1800's when the WELS began mission work among the Apache native Americans in Arizona. Today, the district is comprised of congregations throughout the western states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and West Texas.
Our congregations are committed to the faithful presentation of God's Word and its application to our lives both for this life and the life to come.
The WELS ~ Who We Are
With beginnings in Wisconsin in 1850, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, aka, the WELS, is a confessional Lutheran church body, grounded in the belief that God's Word is without error and that the Holy Scriptures give the only reliable solution to the problem of mankind's guilt before God - salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Churches affiliated with the WELS are located throughout the United States and in 30 foreign countries. The WELS is divided into twelve districts, one of which is the Arizona-California District.
