TRAVEL EQUALIZATION

The following Travel Equalization Policy applies for:

 

Travel expense for congregational representatives to the biennial district convention:

  • Travel subsidy will be granted to congregations that are in excess of 1000 miles (round trip) from the point of origin to the convention.

  • Subsidy will be granted up to 80% of the lowest available airfare 

    OR

  • An allowance for mileage in excess of 1000 round trip miles following the standard IRS rate of reimbursement.  Mileage will be computed using the most direct point-to-point route as outlined by AAA or Rand McNally.

  • Meals, lodging, and car rentals from the airport are not eligible for subsidy.

  • The Equalization Committee will determine the lesser of travel costs to the convention (mileage or lowest available airfare).   

  • Travel subsidy forms will be distributed at the convention to qualifying congregations.

 

Pastor and Teacher EMERITI:

Travel expense to the biennial convention:  

  • The Equalization Committee will provide 100% reimbursement for the lesser of the lowest available airfare or the most direct point-to-point driving mileage.   A single stipend of 30.00 will be provided for a car rental if necessary and applicable.

  • Reimbursement for lodging at the convention site will be provided to cover one half the cost of a shared room.  Those desiring a single room will be responsible for the balance of the room cost.

  • A meal stipend of 15.00 per day for three days.

  • Travel subsidy forms will be distributed at the convention for reimbursement of convention costs.

Travel expense to annual district pastoral or teacher conferences:  

  • An annual stipend of up to 100.00 will be granted to emeriti to assist in travel/lodging expenses incurred while attending their respective annual district conferences.  

  • In addition, a travel reimbursement will be granted for 80% of the lowest available airfare to those who live in excess of 1000 miles (round trip) from the conference site OR the standard allowance for mileage in excess of 1000 round trip miles following the IRS rate of reimbursement.  Mileage will be computed using the most direct point-to-point route as outlined by AAA or Rand McNally.  Other expenses are covered in the 100.00 stipend mentioned above.

  • For reimbursement of conference expenses, emeriti should submit their requests/bills to the district secretary.
