The Arizona Pastors' Conference includes all active and retired WELS pastors who are members of the Apache, Black Canyon, Gadsden, and Grand Canyon conferences in the district. This conference meets annually in the month of May.
Brothers, There has been a glitch with the reservations for the Arizona Pastors’ Conference on May 6-7. The Comfort Inn Casa Grande lost the reservation of our block of rooms. We are recommending that you make your reservations with the Super 8, which is located on Florence Blvd to the west of the Comfort Inn. The Super 8 rate for a room with one king bed is $56.69 plus tax. Their rate for a room with 2 queen beds is $62.99 plus tax. 1. Their phone number is 520-836-8800. 2. The rooms are reserved under Grace Lutheran Church. 3. 15 rooms are reserved for Monday night, May 5, and 10 additional rooms for Tuesday night, May 6. Those who are arriving Monday should specify that they intend to stay two nights. 4. The rooms are being held with my credit card. So when you make your reservation, you need to replace my card information with yours. Any reservations still held with my credit card on April 30 will be cancelled. 5. If you have problems with the reservation, first request to speak with Assistant Manager Aurora Cardenas or the receptionist Shelly. If they are not helpful, contact me. Sorry for the inconvenience of this change. The following information remains the same from my last letter. The ladies of the congregation are planning to provide continental breakfast and lunch during both days of the conference. Bring your glove if interested in playing softball. Though the lighted fields are all reserved for Little League games. A grade school field or open grassy field will be available Tuesday night from 6:00 – sundown at 7:11. Perhaps Black Canyon will challenge the Gadsen and Apache Conferences. Gemutlichkeit, including grilled hamburgers, will be offered at the parsonage after softball since softball players may not have time to grab a meal between conference and first pitch. There will be a computer and projector with Power Point capabilities set up for the duration of the conference for presenters who need it. If your wife is coming to Casa Grande with you, my wife (Brenda) would be happy to arrange an outing or visiting opportunity, perhaps a trip to the Outlet Mall or the quaint shops in ‘historic downtown’ Casa Grande. Women may call Brenda at 520-836-8911 or e-mail her at ewagen@hotmail.com if interested. In Christ, Steve Wagenknecht
